Genuine Joe's and Acoustalyn

Last night's show was wonderful, at a wonderful little coffee shop - Genuine Joe's in North Austin - where we have a long and regular history. It's a really "laid back" place and makes one want to excel when playing music there...and we did!
Long termers Kristin and Nikki were astounding, and relative newbie Lyn on bass has really added a lot to our overall and underlying sound- I have to admit that when first suggested I wasn't so sure how bass/low end would mesh with our acoustic sound, but any such doubts I might have had have been refreshingly proved quite wrong (yes, I AM wrong sometimes, I just don't make a habit of it :). We did miss the presence though of our Gretchen, on mandolin and harmony singing, but she will be back the very next show!

New Album!

After a long sojourn in the studio we have finished and released our third studio album, entitled "Acoustalyn III". The recording quality on this release is a step up from our previous two releases and the vocals of Kristin Kay and Johnnie Kay are no less than astounding...check it out at http://www.acoustalyn.com/media.html/media.html

Rolling Along...

It's been a while! Acoustalyn welcomes Kristin Kay to the group as our new lead singer, and she's just in time to help with the new album. More about her here:

We also have been offered the services (tentatively at least) of Jennifer Daniels to return for all things violin on our third album, which begins recording in mid-October.
Johnnie Kay of Thystle fame will also appear on the album extensively.

New Horizons

We are happy to have both Kim and Aydn join our musical group, lead singer and percussionist respectively, adding many new dimensions, we trust, to our sound and presence. They are both working hard and should be in gear when we re-record a good portion of the first Acoustalyn album and then go into video production soon thereafter!

SXSW

A confirmed "wild and crazy" night downtown Austin where Acoustalyn played a two hour set right on the corner of 7th and Congress, Ave. The incomparable Johnnie Kay filled in on lead vocals and Amy played extraordinary violin as we partook of the much longer than usual SXSW allotted set length with gusto...Johnnie and Amy had never met or played together as of that time and it still sounded as tight as if they were old, familiar regulars!

Being (very) temporarily between vocalists in this group becomes, for us, merely an opportunity to perform just as "tightly", yet with a different array of musicians, making those shows a manner by which I reaffirm and am thankful that I have such a wonderful group of people at my disposal!

Well Done!

Last night at Genuine Joes was fantastic, with our new singer Colleen doing wonderfully in what was only her second show with us and backed up by Lisa, prodigious as always! Nancy was in great form as well and I am really liking Acoustalyn's new line-up!
We have taken on partial-to-full management in the likes of Monica, who heretofore had been doing some research and advising for us...we hope to begin and maintain for a long time to come a resourceful relationship with her!
New video on our YouTube channel soon, here:

and new pictures (but even more on the way) on our Myspace pages.

New Roads!

Hello! Acoustalyn has made some changes, most notably in the area of violin and lead vocals, having recently added both Nancy Mize and Colleen Duffy to those positions, respectively. We also added a new alternate violinist in the form of Katherine Yin who will take over many of the group's Sunday duties when Nancy sings in her choir!

Still heavily booked and a re-recording in the not-too-far-off future will ensure us being quite busy for some time to come!

Thanks everyone for making the new album a success as well!
